| Sep 19 | Mystery Science Theater 3000Mystery Science Theater 3000When: Fri, September 19, 8:00:pm - 10:00:pm Where: Wrench in the Works The Wrench continues its ongoing tribute to one of the funniest shows in TV history. (That's not my opinion, it's fact. So shut up.) This time around, Mike Nelson and his robot pals, Crow and Tom Servo, mercilessly heckle Roger Corman's "Beginning of the End" (1957), in which Peter Graves plays an entomologist who saves Chicago from giant mutated grasshoppers. (Actually, they're just regular-sized grasshoppers crawling around on postcards; but you knew that.) The best part is the sketch in which the gang acts out Crow's screenplay about Graves' time at the University of Minnesota. ("I'm Peter Graves and I'd like to enroll at the University of Minnesota.") Then, it's two of the most hilarious short films in MST3K's glorious history. OK, the shorts themselves aren't funny; but the catcalls from the Satellite of Love crew had me pissing my pants laughing! In "Posture Pals," school teacher Miss Martin impresses upon her students that, "If your posture is slouchy, your face will look grouchy." (I really think Miss Martin needs to get out more.) And in "Appreciating Our Parents," 10-year-old Tommy becomes enlightened about what a good job mom and dad do of managing the house ("Given their limited capabilities," to quote Servo), and becomes part of the family team. ("A losing team," as Crow observes.) I guess what I'm trying to say is, this is some funny shit. Contacts: Dean - soulexpress@gmail.com Doug - yeahigcrew@comcast.net | 8:00 | PM |

If you’ve ever seen Eric you know how heartfelt his songs are. He’s been playing shows recently with his traveling film festival, combining it into a 1:2 punch of music and movies. Recently he put out an album of songs he wrote to his grandfather’s poetry. It’s some pretty amazing stuff. He is also known for having a sweet beard. http://www.last.fm/music/Eric+Ayotte Contacts: curtis at 456 1028 timothy at rowet@hotmail.com | 7:00 | PM |
