Willimantic, Conn., April 26, 2008 -- Three local bands are
donating their time and talents for a benefit dance in support of the
Windham Area Interfaith Ministry's (WAIM) work to serve struggling
families and individuals in the area.

WAIM's Spring Fling 2008 will be held on Saturday, April 26,
2008, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Willimantic Elk's Lodge, 198 Pleasant
Street, in Willimantic, Conn. Tickets are a minimum donation of $15
($7 students).

Mansfield Health Care Resolution!!! ( Windham and Coventry are working on similar resolutions... contact Kevin Douglas below on information for those towns). We will be finalizing the work on the resolution and setting up dates and places for showing films about the health care crisis, a forum on the health care crisis in June, and the meeting date of the Mansfield Town Committee and Mansfield Democratic Committee to present resolutions for them to sign onto in June.

The Collective Needs Your Financial Help

The Wrench in the Works Collective is coming up on it's one year anniversary in March. However, in order to make it to that date we need some serious financial contributions. Our expenses are $755/month to keep our doors open. That includes rent, electrical and heat. We need people to join the collective as paying members if they can. Any amount can help us. It is $10/month suggested amount for membership however, if you can only give a smaller amount do not let that deter you from joining.

Vicki Nolan Marnin CNM of Birth & Beyond in Madison, CT and Barbara Soderberg a retired midwife will come and speak about Conscious Birth options as well as Homebirth in particular. Everyone is welcome...those just curious about homebirth, had a homebirth, parents, grandparents & friends of people interested in homebirth and conscious choices in childbirth. This will also be important for young women & men to learn about a different way of birthing than is presented in the mainstream of the health care system.

This is a monthly market of Free Stuff! Help take direct action against consumerism and capitalistic culture.
Why buy new when there are perfectly good, slightly used items available? It's kind of like Goodwill, except it is all Free.
You can find clothes, shoes, accessories, even a toaster! All items have been donated by interested community and collective members.
All monetary donations will go to the Wrench.

Rising Tide at Wrench in the Works

On Saturday, April 28th, the Wrench in the Works welcomes the Rising Tide Climate Action tour!

Beginning at 3pm, this event encompasses various workshops, presentations, discussions, performances, and eating good sustainable food.

This is not your typical workshop event. This is a Shindig!
We will be sitting, learning, eating, laughing, inspiring, enjoying, and participating together as a Community. All types of people and community groups interested in resisting climate change are welcome.

Climate change can only be addressed by exposing the intersections between the oppression of humans and the earth.

On Friday, March 2, 2007, the Wrench in the Works Collective will celebrate its grand opening at 861 Main Street in Willimantic. The 3-day celebration will include workshops, games and films. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about this storefront social justice center!
